Financial Freedom

by Grantonio on November 21, 2009

Financial freedom is definitely not about never showing up to work again.

First and foremost, financial freedom is about eliminating actions motivated by scarcity. We make poor decisions (pun intended) when we start with scarcity. (That means that the decisions we make make us poor.) Scarcity is fear-based. It is panicky. It is desperation. This is bondage. Fear, scarcity, and desperation diffuse your spark.

Financial freedom is about not being a slave to finances. Most people think its about not being employed. I can bet there is about 10% of the population that would feel more freedom if they were working right now.

Most people work because of scarcity, fear, and desperation. They want the scarcity to stop, and since scarcity is associated with their work, they think that ending the employment situation will end the scarcity. I understand the confusion, but if you are going to stop something, stop the insanity.

The problem is one’s thinking. Change the mindset, change the motive.

I am still employed. I am not in a hurry to change that. In fact, I would say that I love what I do (a lot!) Keep in mind that enjoying your work is foundational for the Total Life Experience.

Get a vision. Get your finances under control. Make them work for you. When you do, a sense of freedom will wash over you. This is the moment that you will have attained financial freedom.
